Data Spectrum Phantom Spotlight – Jaszczak Flanged Phantom

Phantom Spotlight For July

At DSC, we understand that the only way to do great work is to genuinely love what you do! It just so happens that we design quality phantoms, and enjoy every minute of the process. To let you know just how much we admire our work and products, we decided to designate a monthly MVP! That’s right…a “Most Valuable Phantom” from our product rooster.

Jaszczak Flanged Phantom

MVPs don’t have to be limited to sporting events and award banquets. At DSC, we want to showcase our incredible products each month. So, let me take a moment to present to you our Most Valuable Phantom of the month.

For the month of July, our MVP goes to…..drum roll please!
The Jaszczak Flanged Phantom!

The Jaszczak Flanged Phantom can be used for both SPECT or PET systems and has multiple performance characteristics. Developed in 1982, it is a cylindrical phantom containing fillable inserts that can be used for validating system performance evaluation, acceptance testing, and routine quality assurance (QA). The modular design allows for the evaluation of: spatial resolution, center-of-rotation error, uniformity, and attenuation and scatter compensation. The phantom is also used with systems of poorer spatial resolution, larger radius-of-rotation, low cut-off reconstruction filters and count densities mimicking clinical scans.

Did you know that the Jaszczak Phantom is also used for accreditation by clinical and academic facilities for the American College of Radiology? Just one of the many reasons the phantom sits at the top of our MVP list.

What are the MVP stats?

The Flanged Jaszczak Phantom has both SPECT and PET capabilities. The phantom has a protruding flanged top and with 3.2 mm cylinder wall thickness for reduced attenuation. The Flanged Jaszczak Phantoms comes in four different models.

Highlight the Whole Family

Whether it is a SPECT or positron system, our phantoms and related accessories provide medical imaging investigators with the ability to test imaging equipment and validate that the medical imaging is done correctly and accurately. At DSC, we take pride in that fact that our amazing staff designs and builds all of our medical imaging phantoms so that we can provide our customers with innovative products that reach and exceed strict quality control guidelines. Every day, we strive to provide quality phantoms that are based on scientific solutions and provide medical imaging professionals with reliable and measurable results. Bottom line, we love what we do, and it shows!

Want to learn more about phantoms?

A phantom is more than just a scientific device; it is a “stand-in” for human tissue and a way to ensure that the systems and methods for imaging a human body are operating correctly. If you want to learn more about what a phantom does and how it works, take a look at the following blogs.
