Providing cutting-edge technology to the medical imaging field is our ultimate goal, and we make sure to meet that objective when creating each and every one of our phantoms/products.

Still not sure what we do at DS, take a look at the 5 “Ws” on our amazing company to learn more about us.

Who are we?

Data Spectrum has been focused on creating molecular imaging phantoms to enable Medical Imaging Professionals the ability to evaluate their image resolution standards. Our products are designed primarily for acceptance testing, quality control, and for research purposes. With a wide range of uses, our product can assist with:

  • Single-photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT)
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Combined medical imaging systems

Where we come from: a brief history

Our mission has always been to provide medical institutions, research professionals, and manufacturers of medical imaging systems with high-quality imaging phantoms that are durable and state-of-the-art. Data Spectrum opened its doors in 1981. The co-founder of the company, Dr. Ronald Jaszczak, has been a pioneer in quantitative nuclear medicine imaging since 1976. A professor at Duke University, he developed the earliest SPECT imaging equipment and bridged the gap between utilizing phantoms solely in the research field to enabling medical imaging professionals the ability to accurately provide and show that the camera is working as intended.

What makes us and our products unique?

While Data Spectrum is known as the home of the Jaszczak Phantom and Hoffman Brain phantom, we also want to be recognized as a company that provides high-quality phantoms that exceed expectations. At Data Spectrum Corporation, we specialize in PET and SPECT, but also create phantoms for combined cameras like PET/CT and SPECT/CT. We pride ourselves on providing quantitative imaging that can numerically measure medically significant attributes rather than simply producing images to look at and interpret. At DSC, we set the bar high and are an ACR Phantom partner for SPECT (“NM” often) and PET accreditation programs. We are also able to create custom phantoms to meet the needs of our clients. So, to answer the question- DSC is unique because we are always striving to do more and be a better provider of all things phantom.
